  2. Course: Heartsaver First Aid / CPR / AED Credit: ½ Grade: 10-12 Certifies in Heartsaver First Aid / CPR / AED. Teaches students critical skills and knowledge needed to respond to and manage a first aid or sudden cardiac arrest. How to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies, as well as perform CPR and use an AED. Successful completion of this course will result in the student being CERTIFIED in Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED. This course is an elective and does not satisfy the graduation requirement for Physical Education or Health.

  3. Course: Outdoor Education & Responding to Emergencies Credit: ½ Grade: 10-12 An opportunity to learn more about the various skills needed to safely enjoy adventures in the outdoors. Learn how to use a compass, read a topographical map, water filtration techniques and basic first aide measures. Learn about the proper response techniques in emergency situations. Learn how to respond to emergencies before the ambulance arrives. At least one field trip where students will go to a local trail (possibly Breakneck Ridge in Cold Spring) and learn how to read and follow the trail markers. This course is an elective and does not satisfy the graduation requirement for Physical Education or Health.
