  1. Lab Safety • All equipment on your desk during a lab is considered lab equipment. • Do not touch lab equipment until you are instructed to do so. • Listen to all directions and follow them at all times.

  2. Lab equipment should not be confused with drums, tambourines, eating utensils, toys or weapons. • Safety glasses must be worn at all times when directed to do so. • Latex gloves must be worn at all times when directed to do so.

  3. Any foreign material that enters the eye, mouth or open wound should be brought to your instructors attention immediately. • Open flames and hot plates should be treated with respect. They will burn you. Do not test this theory. • Scalpels are razor sharp and should be treated with respect. They will cut you. Do not test this theory.

  4. Always clean up your work area and equipment after an experiment is completed Equipment must be returned to its proper place. • Students are never permitted in the science storage cabinet unless given permission.

  5. Long hair, and loose fitting clothing are not permitted during science labs. • If your clothes catch on fire, running from the heat is NOT a good idea. Stop, drop, and roll (be sure to scream loudly to attract the attention of your instructor).

  6. Never return unused chemicals to their original containers. • Horseplay or practical jokes are frowned upon during labs. You will be asked to leave the lab.
