This report presents the findings from the Al-dip and die casting tests conducted by Andreas Reiter on June 20, 2007. The Al-dip tests revealed that while each coating exhibited areas of destruction after 4 hours, particularly at surface or coating defects, the new coatings demonstrated significantly lower attack by liquid aluminum, with CrC showing notable performance. Interestingly, CrSiON coatings outperformed CrON in this context. The die casting tests evaluated casted parts under similar conditions and provided data on the effectiveness of four inserts.

Al-dip test conclusion • General difficult to come to a conclusion for the Al-dip test • each coating showed after 4 hours areas of destruction, typically on places with surface or coating defects • New coatings showed low attack by liquid Al, e.g. CrC much more • Tendentiously CrSiON coatings performed better than CrON • Suprisingly in this test the new coatings performed better than our standard coatings
