Scholastic. • Using decimals, fractions, and percentages, the fictional book tells the story of aliens who use Twizzlers as currency. Helps students make connections between the three types of numbers, and is good for students who struggle with reading.

  6. Once Upon a Dime Reading Level: 2.0 Allen, Nancy Kelly. (2001). Once Upon a Dime. Charlesbridge Publishers Inc. An easy fictional text, on the independent level of all of the students in the class. Helps students relate decimals to money.
