COG ACTIVITY COG CONCLUSION 32/1 - ICAO LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS a)That, the action plan, included as Appendix C to the COG/32 Report, be recommended to States as guidance material for the implementation of ICAO language proficiency requirements. b)  That the ICAORD request States in a position to do so, to provide details of any available recourses, in order to produce a catalogue to assist States that will need to make use of external resources in meeting the new language requirements. COG/ATM/TNG/TF

  3. ACTION PLAN: Phase 1covers the period up to 5 March 2008 and deals with actions required to reach Level 4 proficiency Phase 2after 5 March 2008, proposes actions for the maintenance of Level 4 proficiency or higher COG/ATM/TNG/TF

  4. PHASE 1 – KEY POINTS • awareness • nomination of contact point(s) • coordination of administrative and training matters • assessment of current language proficiency level • development of language training packages • financial implications COG/ATM/TNG/TF

PHASE 1 – KEY POINTS(CONTINUATION) • social issues • development/selection of final test(s) • raters’ selection and training • maintaining of achieved language proficiency • prerequisite English requirements for ab initio ATC and • pilot training • preliminary reports to ICAO on progress achieved COG/ATM/TNG/TF

  6. PHASE 2 – KEY POINTS • testing of pilots and controllers • language proficiency maintenance • programmes • retesting and retraining programmes • final report to ICAO on implementation COG/ATM/TNG/TF
