HX-Net enables users to efficiently extract stream connection information, physical properties, and heat transfer coefficients from fully solved HYSYS cases. Users can modify this data or input it manually. It is essential to ensure all material streams are indicated in dark blue and energy streams in dark red before proceeding. The tool aids in setting achievable targets for operating and capital costs, modifying heat exchanger networks, and evaluating alternative designs against these targets. Detailed manuals provide guidance on usage and data entry.

HX-Net • HX-Net can extract stream connection information, physical properties and heat transfer coefficients from a HYSYS case. One can modify this information at will or specify it manually from the beginning, if desired. Note: • The HYSYS case must be 100% solved. (i.e. All material streams must be DARK blue; All energy streams must be DARK red.) • Unnecessary streams and units should be deleted prior to extraction. • Determining achievable targets for operating and capital costs. • Modifying the heat exchanger network. • Evaluate alternative designs vs. the target by examining area, capital cost and operating cost. Portions of the above paraphrased and/or lifted verbatim from the HX-Net User Guide
HX-NET 1 You will not be able to open a HX-Net PROJECT. This is normal. We do not have a license for that feature, which, among other things, automatically generates HEN’s for you. 2 NOTE: Read the extraction tips to check for potential errors. 3 4

Further Information • Three comprehensive HX-Net manuals are available on the course website: • http://www.ualberta.ca/CMENG/courses/che465/Applications.pdf • http://www.ualberta.ca/CMENG/courses/che465/Get%20Started.pdf • http://www.ualberta.ca/CMENG/courses/che465/User%20Guide.pdf • The Applications manual provides very detailed tutorials on entering data manually and extracting data from HYSYS.
