Research • The first bits of research we did for the ambient device was too look at phone apps which give you data in different ways… • Weather forecaster • Map • Digital clock and stop watch • Exercise tracker • Clock that calls out time • Plane tracker • Organizer • Reading books/newspapers/magazines

  4. The ambient device below we found when looking for devices which gives information other then visually. The umbrella has an electronic signal through the handle which helps detect if it’s going to rain and tells the user by flashing a light on the handle with the flashes slower if it’s just a light rain and faster if it’s a heavy downpour. Research The ambient device above we found when looking for devices which gives information other then visually. The device is called Olly the web connected smelly robot which in a form of a cube plugs into your computer or laptop and releases a smell into the air when you receive a new message on Facebook or emails.

  5. Smell Navigate Watch From the brainstorm one of the ideas that we came up with was as GPS smell watch. This you would wear as you travelled and it would release a familiar smell of a particular restaurant where you are close to it with the smell getting stronger as you got closer. This watch we decided could then be split into 8 sections which would allow different smells of places to be chosen. For example… Cinema Fish and Chips Pizza/Italian Perfume/Makeup shop Chocolate shop Chinese Market Petrol station This type of device may also be good for blind people releasing a certain smell to tell them where they are.

  6. Money Tracker From the brainstorm one of the ideas that we came up with was a money tracker to help people finance better and know exactly what there spending. We did this by taking an ordinary credit card and putting a bar on the side which showed how much money you have left to spend in the bank. Mini Projector From the brainstorm one of the ideas that we came up with was a mini projector which would be in a small cube and can be plugged into a computer or laptop easily and would project onto a flat surface. This could be a useful device for business people who need to make presentations carry around and for educational aspects as well. o o

  8. Final Idea Above is a re final idea for the Ambient Device in the form of a credit card which has a bar on the bottom showing how much you have left to spend on the card.
