Highlights of ITU activitiesInternational Cooperation • MOU with ARIB, CCSA, TTA and TTC recognizing ITU as the pre-eminent global ICT standards body • CTO meeting reaffirms the need for improved collaboration, cooperation and coordination among SDOs • ITU and the Global e‑Sustainability Initiative (GeSI) collaboration agreement and TSB Director appointed to the GeSI board • WSC (World Standards Cooperation) ITU, IEC, ISO agree to develop a Common Accessibility Policy • ITU is now observer at the Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee of WTO. TSB participates. • ITU-T on the ICANN Board in 2011 and took a seat on the ICANN 2011 NomCom

Highlights of ITU-T activities Producing Global Standards (2) • Telepresence • New work in ITU-T Study Group 16 is focusing on standardizing full interoperability between telepresence systems. • Cybersecurity • Two new Recommendations that counter spam and other unsolicited communications through an interactive gateway system were approved • Child Online Protection (COP) • Studying security-related guidelines/standards on COP issues. • Cloud Computing • Increased industry support for worldwide interoperability • Cloud Computing FG seven deliverables in December 2011
Highlights of ITU-T activities Producing Global Standards (3) • Internet of Things (IoT) • New Joint Coordination Activity and Global Standards initiative • IoT-GSI an umbrella for IoT standards development worldwide • Accessibility • A WSC workshop on standards needed for facilitating the development of accessible solutions around the world. • A new Focus Group on Audiovisual Media Accessibility to make audiovisual media accessible for persons with disabilities. • Conformity and interoperability (C&I) • Four ITU Interop events on IPTV and one on G.hn • New Academia members
Highlights of ITU-R activities (1) • Powerline Telecommunications (PLT) • revised Reports addressing compatibility issues between PLT systems and radiocommunication services (SM.2158-2 and SM.2212-1) • Rec. SM.1879-1on the impact of PLT systems on radiocommunication services and the associated protection criteria (< 30MHz and between 80 & 470 MHz • information shared with other organizations at the ITU Forum on PLT (May 2011) • Short-range devices (SRDs) (incl. for ISM and RFID applications). • ITU-R Reports addressing impact of SRDs and ISM on radiocommunication services (SM.2153-2, SM.2210) • draft new Rec. on frequency ranges for global or regional harmonization of SRDs
