The KIT Humans and Technology Focus, established on July 15, 2009, under Dr. Oliver Parodi, aims to enhance scientific excellence by exploring the interactions between technological progress and society. By integrating expertise from social sciences, humanities, and economics, this interdisciplinary initiative seeks solutions to technology-related challenges. Collaborating with various scientific-technical focuses, the program involves approximately 480 scientists and addresses critical issues impacting both humans and technology through ongoing research and innovative projects.

The KIT Humans and Technology Focus pools existing competences mainly from the disciplines of social sciences, humanities, cultural studies, law, and economics to find answers and solutions to technology-related issues. The KIT Humans and Technology Focus combines continuously developing disciplinary competences into relevant interdisciplinary cooperations. The KIT Humans and Technology Focus cooperates with the scientific-technical Focuses and Centers in solving relevant issues and responds to suggestions made by them.
