TEACHER DEVELOPMENT • Consider what we have covered in class discussion and in text reading in the area of how teachers teach and how students learn. • How have you applied any or all of the following: • principles of education psychology (behaviorism, motivation, art vs science posture) • A-B-C principles • reflective principles (daily or weekly reflection on your teaching – a journal) • current scientific research in teaching or learning

COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT • Consider what we have covered in class and in the text about brain development, cognition, and disorders. • How have you used any or all of the following: • learning theory • understanding executive function • cognitive theories such as those of Vygotsky, Piaget, Krashen) • knowledge of learning differences in your students

  4. SOCIAL/MORAL DEVELOPMENT • Consider what we have covered in class presentations and text reading. • How have you used any or all of the following: • understanding psychosocial stages (Erikson) • understanding moral development stages (Kohlberg) • distinguishing between justice and fairness • understanding issues of gender in development • understanding knowledge of cultural norms and expectations to gain insight into student behaviors

DIFFERENTIATED OUTLOOK • Consider what we have covered in class discussion and in your reading of the text. • How have you used any or all of the following: • understanding how to communicate about disabilities • recognizing discrete disorders among your students • the hierarchical model of intelligence • knowledge of multiple intelligences • learning styles • teaching styles

BEHAVIORAL DEVELOPMENT • Consider what we have discussed in class and what you have read in the text. • How have you used any or all of the following: • understanding and using consequences • understanding theories such as those of Thorndike and Skinner • reinforcement, extinction and cueing • surface management techniques • understanding the cycle of verbal and physical aggression

COGNITIVE and COMPLEX COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT • Consider what we have discussed in class and what you have read in the text. • How have you used any or all of the following: • knowledge of information processing models • understanding types of knowledge • distinguishing long term and short term memory tasks • the role of metacognitive strategies • the role of innovation and creativity as it applies to teaching and learning • solving the problem of transfer
