  3. Research Accounting Office • The mission of the office is to provide support for research staff in the financial management of research awards.

Research Accounting Office • Proposal- advise on budget submissions, formal sign off on budget proposals over €300,000 • Project Set Up on Agresso following on from contract sign off at the Technology Transfer Office • Training and Support for Staff on the University web based financial reports. • Project Operation

Project Operation • Review and approve Post Proposal Forms (hiring of staff) to ensure availability of funds • Process scholarship (student appointments) and course fee payments • Preparation of cost statements/financial reports to funding agencies • Advise on ongoing budget and expenditure queries from Researchers and administrators. • Preparation of files for financial audit and the co-ordination of same. • Processing of journals, the university levy, budget reallocations, reclassification of expenditure, internal transfers, payments to partners, income follow up.

  7. Our Limitations • 1700 live research projects • 400 Agresso Users. • Different terms and conditions - by funder - within funder • EU over 70 different programmes We are not resourced to know the terms and conditions of each project.

  8. Our Improvements • Suite of reports that aid in the management of research awards. • “How To” Guides • Helpful tools and aids and a one stop shop within Agresso. • Macro to aid in the costing of staff for hire. • Revamped office website.

  9. And what we ask of the Research Community • Review the project expenditure on a regular basis • Know the terms and conditions of your projects • Know the reporting timelines to the funder • Work with us and the other support services offices • Share information with other research centres
