Environment • Monitoring of external factors such as REF, Government policy, funding agency changes, economic factors • Developing and maintaining relationships with external agencies, such as funders, other HEIs, government organisations, businesses etc. • Translating new agendas, such as Impact, into policy and practice • Development and implementation of the University Research Strategy • Development of policies to support good research integrity (ethics, codes of conduct) • Promotion and assistance with Athena Swan and Concordat • Provision of management information for monitoring and benchmarking purposes • Monitoring of Departmental and Research Centre performance, and promoting best practice • Actively promoting ‘joined up’ support service provision!

Planning/Application • Developing and drafting aspects of proposals, including: - Impact plans - Business cases & financial models - Letters of support - Project plans • Advice on: - funders' terms and conditions - use of J-eS and pFACT • Review and approve costings – University and sponsor compliance • Advice and assistance with governance issues (ethics etc) • Scrutiny of contracts, drafting of agreements • Final J-eS submission, logging all applications
