POWER QUALITY METERS AND THEIR IMPORTANCE IN ENERGY MANAGEMENT The comprehensive Janitza product range stands for Energy management, power quality monitoring and residual current monitoring (RCM)in a single system environment. For system assurance and highly-availability power supply, continuous monitoring of the power quality in all technical systems per IEC 61000-2-4 is essential. WHAT ARE POWER QUALITY METERS? Power quality meters are smart devices that can gather, analyse and interpret raw measurement data into useful information. They have the ability to communicate with other intelligent devices. Features include: - Measurement of power quality disturbances such as Harmonics, Sag-Swell, Transients, Unbalance, etc. Measurement of consumed/delivered energy (4 Quadrant meter) Inbuilt storage memory to collect and analyse historical data. Documenting and trending system performance to increase system reliability - - - WHAT IS CLASS A TYPE POWER QUALITY ANALYZER? Class A is defined by the IEC 61000-4-30 standard which provides detailed specifications that a mains analyzer must meet when precise measurements are necessary such as in case of disputes with electricity supply companies.

  2. The standard defines the necessary parameters, suitable measurement methods, accuracy and bandwidths. This makes it possible to easily reproduce results, and compare data of two meters. As per IEC 61000-4-30, the basic measurement time interval for parameter magnitudes (supply voltage, harmonics, interharmonics and unbalance) shall be a 10-cycle time interval for a 50 Hz power system or a 12-cycle time interval for a 60 Hz power system. JANITZA UMG PRO SERIES Besides UMG 512-PRO, the fixed Class A power quality analyzer, Janitza offers other meters in their UMG PRO Series. They include: UMG 509-PRO Powerful network analyzer with colour graphic display and high degree of user friendliness. Also, PLC functionality (Jasic), integrated residual current monitoring and comprehensive range of protocols for simple incorporation into existing communication architectures. UMG 509- PRO measures with an accuracy of 0.2 %. UMG 604-PRO Power analyzer for DIN rail mounting with latest communication capabilities (Ethernet, PROFIBUS, Jasic (PLC functionality) and integrated homepage). Comprehensive power quality measurements can be undertaken. UMG 605-PRO Power quality analyzer for DIN rail mounting with standard-compliant power quality measurement per IEC 61000-2-4 and EN 50160. Measurement process implemented in accordance with DIN EN 61000-4-30.
