  2. Pinnawelaeste un parcnaţional fondat în anul 1975 cu scopul de a găzdui elefanţii abandonaţi sau răniţi. Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is an orphanage, nursery and captive breeding ground for wild Asian elephants located at Pinnawala village, in Sri Lanka. Pinnawala is notable for having the largest herd of captive elephants in the world. Numărul elefanţilor de aici a crescut până la un efectiv de peste 80 de exemplare, care include elefanţii tineri aduşi din diferite zone ale ţării dar şi 23 de pui care s-au născut ca rezultat al programului de reproducere.
