  4. Question: What is qualitative versus quantitative research? • Tactic: When deciding which to use, figure out if the topic is something easily measured precisely. If it can be, it should be.

  5. Question: • Should you research something you know about or something brand new to you? • Tactic: Think balance.

  6. Question: Do research papers involve intensive reading? • Tactic: Use table of contents, indexes, key word searches, and Ctrl+F to reduce the time spent doing unrelated reading.

  7. Question: Should you learn about your topic along with your reader or should you be completely authoritative about the topic? • Tactic: Be explorative to make writing research papers exciting, not daunting.

  8. Question: Should someone writing an advanced research paper be past utilizing basic note-taking skills? • Tactic: Review note taking skills. Organization is key to keeping up with your timeline and minimizing frustration.

  9. Question: Are all research papers formal and scholarly? • Tactic: Consider adding an element of research to any writing to heighten validity and detail. Even fiction requires research!
