  1. Test Monitoring CenterReport to the Mack Test Surveillance Panel December 3, 2001 Miami, FL

  2. T-8/T-8E/T-9 Reference Oil Testing Summary • October ‘01 Report Period: T-8 / T-8E • 8 tests • 3 labs / 4 stands • 4 accepted for calibration • 1 invalid (missed soot window) • 3 aborted • Projected to miss soot window: 1 • Failed Injection Pump: 1 • Broken Camshaft: 1 • No T-9 Reference Activity

  3. T-8/T-8E/T-9Reference Oil Testing Summary • T-8/T-8E Current Industry Alarms • None. • T-9 Current Industry Alarms • ALW • EWMA Severity warning, mild • No indication if a “true” alarm • One test • Data is eight months old

  4. T-10 Reference Oil Testing Summary • October ‘01 Report Period • 40 tests • 5 labs / 12 stands • 33 matrix tests / 7 calibration tests /6 accepted for calibration • 1 aborted – fuel dilution • Current Period (April ’02) • 2 tests, accepted for calibration • Number of Calibrated T-10 Stands: 13 • T-10A Flush and Run Stands: 2

  5. T-10 Reference Oil Testing Summary • Current T-10 Industry Alarms • None.

  6. Items for Surveillance Panel Consideration • T-8E Relative Viscosity • CI-4 uses 100% of DIN Shear Loss • Results differ in severity and precision from CH-4 relative viscosity. • Not currently monitored for either calibration or severity adjustments

  7. Items for Surveillance Panel Consideration • T-8E Relative Viscosity • Add to T-8E as third parameter, monitor for SA’s only (non-critical for stand calibration)???????? • Avoids calibration by oil category (!) • Database can be easily developed using existing T-8E data: RV100 = RV50 [ (Vu/2Vs) + 0.5 ]

  8. Items for Surveillance Panel Consideration • Liner Wear Step Measurements • 2001 Round Robin Identified differences in wear step measurements between labs and measurement devices.

  9. Items for Surveillance Panel Consideration • Liner Wear Step Measurements • Per conference call discussion • Liners from a previous round robin are being remeasured to help determine which lab / device has shifted. • Liner measurement workshop is to be held.

  10. Results of Liner Re-Measurements Lab A – Talysurf Lab D - PDI
