  1. How do teenagers aged 16-19 select films? Edd Clark

  2. What influences teenagers to go see a film? • The aim of my survey was to find out what influences teenagers aged 16 to 19 to go and watch certain films at the cinema.

  3. The Survey • When conducting the survey I asked a cross section of people from different backgrounds and areas to try and gain the best possible results. • I asked 20 people what made them go and watch a film, I done this by asking them 10 questions. I asked them such questions as: • Who do you watch films with? • Do trailers make you want to go see new films? • Would you go and watch a film because a certain director and actor is in it? By asking these questions I was able to get a good idea into why teenagers aged 16-19 watched certain films.

  4. Key findings • My results show that most teenagers go to watch films if the films has a number of advertisement techniques for example has a trailer, adverts on the internet (if they’re shown on Facebook or MySpace). • I found that programmes such as ‘the making of’ on MTV help in making the choice for teenager when deciding what film to go and watch. • Although advertisements are effective in getting people through the doors the most influential factor in choosing to go and watch a new film is ‘word of mouth’.

  6. Conclusion • The results of my survey concluded that there is a number of reasons why teenagers aged 16 to 19 go and watch films these are the trailers, programmes which main focus is the film e.g. ‘The making of’ and perhaps the most important reason; word of mouth.
