Template for Counties to Develop Cattle History • Name – origin, meaning, and history • Year established • Early industry, enterprises, and other activities • List of extension agents, vo-ag teachers, home economists (AI technicians, livestock dealers, etc.) • Others who may not have owned cattle, but were instrumental in development of cattle industry • Earliest to latest of people who had significant cattle operations • Packing plants, livestock markets, milk processing plants, cheese making and other cattle related businesses • Financial institutions prominent in assisting cattle producers and businesses • Noted 4-H/FFA students and workers--shows, fairs, expositions and other special programs. Ex. Dairy and Beef Chains • Any other early through late history of events or activities related to cattle. Ex. Pictures, news releases, magazine stories, etc. • List of people you have contacted in compiling your information (Older cattlemen, county extension directors, and, in many counties, the local library are all good sources of information )
