The Structure • Is a muscular, four-chambered and durable pump. • Made of: • Pericardium; tough, double-layered connective tissue sac, protects & anchors the heart. • Myocardium; cardiac muscle cells tethered to collagen & elastin fibers. • Fibers-so densely crisscrossed-serve as skeleton.
