6 th Grade Musicology

Join Ms. Gomez's 6th Grade Musicology class at Marine View Middle School, where students will embark on an engaging journey through the fundamental aspects of music. This course will cover music theory, history, and performance. Students will have the chance to showcase their learning by participating in the "Change of Seasons" concert on November 21. Grading will reflect daily participation, tests, projects, and concert performance. With a focus on respect, readiness, and responsibility, students are encouraged to foster a love for music both in school and at home.

Course Description & Goal Objectives • This class will: • Instruct students in a basic understanding of music, including aspects of: • Theory • History • Performance • Afford students the opportunity to put their knowledge into practice by performing in our End of the Trimester Concert • “Change of Seasons” Concert, November 21

  4. Grading/Homework Policy • Students will be graded according to the following weighted categories: • Daily Participation = 20% of total grade • Tests & Quizzes= 20% of total grade • Projects = 20% of total grade • Concert = 30% of total grade • Music Binder = 10% of total grade • Late Work: Late work will be accepted through the end of each unit. It is the students’ responsibility to bring each assignment to the teacher for grading/adjudication.
