  3. Family NT • Ephesians 3:11 – 12 For this cause I bow my knees before the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named. • Family – patria • - lineage running back • - ancestry • - nation of common origin

Each Family Is Unique • Triangles – makes for a potential “odd man out” • Differentiation of Self – drives one’s degree of healthy dependence or independence • Nuclear Family Emotional System – describes where FOUR basic relationship problems typically erupt within the family • - marital conflict • - dysfunction within one spouse • - impairment of one or more children • - emotional distance –

Each Family Is Unique • Family Projection Process – how parents transmit their emotional problems into children • Multigenerational Transmission Process – small levels of differienation between parent/child over generations lead to major ability to adapt or major dysfunctions • Emotional Cutoff – the attempt to manage unresolved family issues by cutting oneself off from the source(s) of hurt. • Sibling Position – same position seem to generally manifest similar behavioral patterns • Societal Emotional Process – each of the foregoing concepts equally apply outside the “home” be it school, work, religion, other relationships because we are typically the same person (wherever we go we normally take ourselves with us)

  7. 1. For We Are All The Family • Whatever we were that’s what we are inside the family of God, unless we left it outside in the pool • Ephesians 3:16 – the Father has the ability to strengthen us though his might and make us better men/women on the inside

For We Are All The Family • Whatever we are dealing with as a family will never be complete until each family member disown his or her unhealthy family stuff… • - talking about what you know isn’t good for the family….talk won’t fix it • - feeling bad about how you act isn’t good for the family….feeling won’t fix it • - always reverting back to unhealthy family emotions isn’t good for the family….reverting won’t fix it • Ephesians 3:17 – Christ dwells in us by faith in God our Father and deeply roots and grounds us in love

For We Are All Family“Fixing” Chores • - Love the head of the family • - Love the wife of the family • - Love the interaction of the family • - Love the mealtime of the family • - Love the accomplishments of the family • - Love wholeheartedly your role in the family • Ephesians 3:19 To know the love of Christ empowers us to surpass the expected chores of family love and to filled with an abundance of family pride.
