This science fair project explores the flight distances of paper airplanes made from various materials. The primary question investigated is: "Which material will allow the plane to fly the farthest?" The hypothesis suggests that tissue paper will yield the best flight distance due to its lightweight nature. Six materials are tested, and data is collected by flying each airplane three times and measuring the distances. The results indicate that the poster board outperformed tissue paper, leading to insights about design modifications for future experiments.

Title The Title must reflect your Problem (Question)
Problem/Question • Separate from the Title • In the Form of a Question
Question Which material will allow the plane to fly the farthest?
Hypothesis Tells what you think will happen and why
Hypothesis I think the plane made from tissue paper will fly the farthest because tissue paper is light and will keep the plane in the air longer.
Research Use at least 2 Resources • Internet Sites • Books • Encyclopedias
Research • 50 Nifty Paper Airplane Patterns by F.L. Why • World Book Encyclopedia “A” • www.designaplane.com
Experiment/Procedure Include: • A list of Materials • Step-by-Step Procedure
Procedure • Make one airplane from each of the six materials • Fly each plane three times • Measure the distance flown • Record the data
Data Collection • Handwritten notes taken during the observation of your experiment • Written on paper or in a journal
Analysis Data in a graph, table, or chart
Conclusion • Was your hypothesis right or wrong? • How can you tell by looking at your data? • What would you change, if anything, in your experiment if you were to do it again?
Conclusion My hypothesis was wrong. I can tell because, according to my data and bar graph, the tissue paper plane only flew 5 meters, but the poster plane flew 10 meters. Next time I will try some other designs to make my planes.
