  1. 6th and 7th grade students must complete 10 hours of community service. • 8th grade students will work on their Community Service Project!

  2. Guidelines • Print and fill out “Community Service Proposal” form. • Proposal must first be approved by your HR teacher. • Do not begin a project without approval. • Due date for proposals: October 21st

  3. If the Proposal is Approved… • Document all hours of service on your “Community Service Hour Log.” • This document can be found on our IB site or on your Edmodo site under “Folder.”

  4. Completion of Service • Upon completion of service, request vouchers or letters of completion from the organizations you helped. • Letter proves that you volunteered and earned hours. • Letter must be signed/stamped by the organization.

  5. Reflections • At the completion of each community service opportunity, students must fill out a “Community Service Reflection” form. • This form is available online. • Community Service Reflections need to be typed!

  6. Don’ts • The following examples are not acceptable: • Babysitting, walking pets, yard work, helping during church services and/or classes. • General chores, that are not beneficial to the community as a whole, are not going to be approved. • Parents may not sign your service hours.

  7. Do’s • Ask yourself… • How can I make a difference by participating in this activity? • How would this benefit the community at large? • Log your hours separately • Log dates and time • Parent signs the log for approval ---NOT as a supervisor

Some C/S ideas… • Relay for Life (2 Hours); April 2017 • Live like Bella (1 Hour); September 2016 • You can write this one down ONLY if you purchased socks and wear them on the “Sock Hop Day.” • Homeroom Teacher will be the “Supervisor.” • Environment Endangered Lands Program (EELP) • 2-3 Hours • Handled by Miami Dade County Parks
