Content • Chapter 4 Environmental Monitoring (5 hours) • Types of Environmental monitoring systems (static, moving sensors, etc) • Deploying an environmental monitoring systems • Monitoring rural areas • Monitoring urban areas and microclimate • Chapter 5 Environmental informatics (6 hours) • The environmental data • Correlations • Data mining • Discrete event simulations and cellular automata • Chapter 6 Participatory Sensing (3 hours) • Social networks and environmental monitoring • Smart devices • Smart applications • Chapter 7 Case studies (2 hours) • Wild fire monitoring • Urban microclimate

  5. The Lecturer • Degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering, Computer science, physical science • MSc Degree in relevant scientific fields • PhD in Telematics or Wireless sensor networks or environmental monitoring
