  1. COMPROMISE

  2. COMPROMISE WITH SATAN • Weakened influence of Christianity in the world. Matt.5:13-16 • Does the world still see Christ in us? Gal.2:20 • Too many Christians have made peace with the devil. • Called by the gospel; II Thes. 2:14 • Not called for partial allegiance; Rom.12:1; Mk.12:30 • Requires more than lip service; Matt.15:8 • A good example of how Satan works; Exo.8-10 I Thes. 2:13-15

  3. STAY CLOSE TO THE WORLD • Exo.8:25 “Go ye, sacrifice to your God in the land” • Today – don’t be such a fanatic • Rom.12:1-2; 6:16; I Jno.2:15-17 • Israelites were slaves – we are slaves to Satan – depart • “Compromise” – never a direct call, but subtle. • Given a choice a seemingly little consequence. • 2 Cor.4:3-4

  4. DON’T GO TOO FAR • Exo.8:28 “only ye shall not go very far away” • God commands a clean break- 2 Cor.6:14-7:1 • Gospel seed combined with the world – choked; Lk.8:14 • Satan will tolerate some good if we will stay close to him.

  5. DIVIDED FAMILIES • “Go ye now that are men, and serve the Lord”; Exo.10:11 • Men would return to their wives and children • This compromise based on man’s desires. • Where religious differences exist in marriages, too many go with “each other”. • Matt.10:36-37; Lk.14:26 • Thank God for those who are strong enough to stand by their convictions.

  6. THE LOVE OF MONEY • Exo.10:24 “only let your flocks and your herds be stayed” • I Tim.6:6-12 • Are we guilty of compromising for financial advantage; Col.3:5 • Business concerns above spiritual concerns • Cf. also Jas.2:1-9

  7. CONCLUSION • These are not all the compromises that Pharaoh (Satan) tried, but enough to show the needed lesson. • Self-discipline hard in permissive society. • Paul – I Cor.9:27; Rom.1:16; I Cor.15:1-2; Gal.5:5 • Only hope of glory in Christ; Col.1:27
