  2. Example You have been asked to be on a committee to review your high school’s rules. Choose one rule that needs to be revised, added, or eliminated. Write a multiple-paragraph letter to your principal persuading him or her to adopt your recommendation.

INTRODUCTION • Hook • Thesis – should contain your TWO subpoints about your book and both should • express your opinion. • BODY PARAGRAPHS – MUST HAVE TWO THIS SIX WEEKS EACH should include: Topic Sentence Textual Evidence to support your topic Explanation for how your evidence supports your topic ***Look back at the example given to you from the 2nd six weeks*** • Conclusion Reword your thesis to bring your essay to a close

Common Mistakes from SW3 • Read the rubric BEFORE beginning your essay!! • Attention-grabbers! • Make sure you use quoted evidence from your book in your body paragraphs because it helps make you a credible writer. • SPACING!! – Double spacing means you are skipping ONE LINE between each line of typing. DO NOT INCREASE SPACE BETWEEN PARAGRAPHS! Indent (press the Tab key) to show a new paragraph beginning! • Works Cited – This MUST be completed in the format shown on your rubric! • Plagiarism – PLEASE don’t do this! Your grade will be no higher than a 30 if you make this major mistake.

Common Mistakes from SW3 • Attention-grabbers! • Make sure you use TE in your body paragraphs because TE makes you a credible writer. • THESIS – For some, this was nonexistent!  • Example for this SWRA – Reading this book is a great idea because the plot is very easy to follow, the setting is similar to our hometown, and the protagonist is very relatable.
