New Developments and Infrastructure Upgrades at Saclay for LCG and CEA Projects

This report highlights recent advancements and system upgrades at DAPNIA in Saclay. Key updates include the evolution of Windows systems, the analysis cluster for LCG, the ongoing GRIF project, and the migration from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003 with a tested cluster setup. Additionally, the deployment of SMS 2003 SP1 for hardware inventory, significant resources dedicated to collaboration with IN2P3 labs, and the installation of new DELL GX 280 machines and storage solutions are discussed. The computing group has been restructured into two units for enhanced efficiency.

Windows: some news from CEA projects • Migration from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003 : A cluster of 2 Exchange servers is being tested … • Deployment of SMS 2003 SP1 inside DAPNIA since June • Used for the “hardware” Inventory only • ITMU (Inventory tools for Microsoft Update) to scan the patches

GRIF in Saclay • Collaboration with the IN2P3 labs in Isle de France: • LAL • LPNHE • LLR • IPNO • Goal: build a unique LCG Tier2 • Try to keep some resources for local usage and EGEE project • Installation of 20 new machines (DELL GX 280) • Installation of 12 terabytes disk: • 2 Axus Demon SA-16U4p-R • 16 SATA disk 400 gigabytes in each black box • RAID 5 • 2 Tyan servers (dual Opteron, PCI-X, …) • Gigabit Ethernet • Tests with LUSTRE
