  1. Earth and Rocks BY Kira

  2. Igneous Rocks • Igneous rocks are made from a liquid called magma. They usually don’t contain fossils and layering. They are formed with lava and when that cools it turns into igneous rock. When the lava cools fast there is small crystals when the lava cools slow there is big crystals. Granite is an example of a rock that cools slowly.

  3. Sedimentary Rocks • Sedimentary rocks are made from pebbles, gravel ,sand, and clay. Sedimentary rocks are made by sediments smashing together. They are usually rich in fossils and layering because anything can get stuck when the sediments are making the layers.

  4. Metamorphic Rocks The word Metamorphic means change in Greek. Metamorphic rocks need heat, pressure, and time to change. One example of a metamorphic rock is marble.

  5. The Rock Cycle Then when the rock gets out of the water because of all the heat and pressure it becomes Metamorphic rock. And when that melts it becomes magma and the cycle starts over again! Magma is at the bottom of a volcano and when it erupts it’s lava. When that cools it’s Igneous rock. Then that rock rolls down to water and breaks into sediments then pebbles, gravel, sand, and clay forms layers to make a Sedimentary rock.

  6. The Layers Of The Earth • The first layer of the earth is the crust that is were we live and we can’t even dig past the crust. The second layer is the mantle. It is made out of solid rock it is very hot here. The third is the outer core it is made out of melted metal it is even hotter then the mantle here. The last is the inner core it is made of solid metal.
