  2. El Biografía de Diego Rivera • Rivera was one of Mexico’s most famous painters. He developed a new style of art that combined historical, social, and political ideas during the twentieth century. • Rivera and his twin brother Carlos were born in Guanajuato, Guanajuato State, Mexico on December 8th, 1886. His father worked many jobs including a teacher, an editor for a newspaper and his mother was a doctor. • In 1907 Rivera traveled to Madrid, Spain to fulfill his dream of studying in Spain. After Spain he moved to Paris, France in 1909. While Rivera lived in Europe, he experimented with his techniques and styles of painting. • Rivera married Frida Kahlo in 1929 and they moved to the United States. A lot of his work that he completed in the U.S. included representations of his political beliefs. • On November 25th, 1957 Rivera died in Mexico City.

  3. El estilo de Diego Rivera • Diego Rivera's style was influenced of many different art style, such as cubism, impressionism, classical European style and Aztec art. • His style was popular in Europe and Mexico. • He did an exhibition that was a great success among the public, this brought him a scholarship to continue its pictorial formation in Spain. • His most pronounced characteristics were intellectual inventiveness and refined sensuality.

  4. What Set Him Apart? • Rivera’s style tended to reflect his passion for Mexican heritage, as well as his political beliefs. • He was perhaps most famous for his murals, which the government commissioned him to paint all around Mexico. His murals were charged with the spirit of the revolutionaries that took Mexico from the Spaniards, and Rivera commonly depicted scenes of traditional Mexican culture, such as a woman making tortillas in the traditional fashion. • Rivera did not paint in a traditional style, but rather incorporated elements of many different ones, such as cubism, impressionism, and even Aztec art into his paintings. This lack of a defined style served to alienate him from the modernistic art community, but would later set him apart as a unique artist.
