Hello, my name is Karen Hopkins. I am a Small Business Professional/ Accountant and Training Facilitator in Los Angeles. My area of expertise is small business operations, adult training, and instructional writing specifically in the property management and educational nonprofit sectors. I have over 20 years of work experience; the past ten years have been spent providing accounting/bookkeeping services and adult training to clients. “I am incredibly excited about working with adult learners and educators in an eLearning environment. I believe my hands-on training approach instills understanding and life skills that can be used in most work-life situations. Major Accomplishments during the past 20+ years… • Designed an online course demo and accompanying ebook. • Successfully setup an accounting system for a Culver City educational development company. • Effectively setup an accounting system and facilitated user training for a West L.A. Homeowners’ Association. • Created a basic website for a Santa Monica C.P.A. • Contributed to an accounting system conversion and facilitated user training for a Beverly Hills property management company. • Developed a strategy to quickly and efficiently process 13 residential properties’ work backlogs for a property management company in Santa Monica. Major Accomplishments during the past 20+ years… (cont.) • Created a computer-based procedure manual for an Accountant II position at USC-ICT; trained two staff associates and one intern; prepared for and successfully passed a procurement card audit. • Effectively setup an Accountant II position along with staff training for the University of California Office of the President (UCOP). Also wrote/compiled a desk manual for UCLA-EFM Accountant II. • Streamlined my accounting position into 32 hours per week which saved my former employer thousands of dollars per year and allowed me to finish my undergrad studies.
