Overview • Service club officially partnered with United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania • Going to try to participate in/complete 3-4 BIG service projects over the year • Maybe only 1 or 2 this year as we are just starting… • Meetings on every other Thursday, unless it is necessary for more…

  3. United Way • National/global charity that is huge with fundraising for education, health, and the needy • Give • One fundraiser per year • Advocate • Be role models in the school • Constitution! • Volunteer • Main focus of our club • Service projects

  4. Constitution • Necessary to be an official Student United Way partner • Outlines goals of the club and the requirements for being an official member of the club • Officer roles, social responsibilities, definitive goals, etc. • I’ll have ours ready to be amended next meeting

  5. Officer Roles • Elections next meeting • Notify me before next meeting if you intend to run • President • I’m going to be a dictator and I’m taking this role without a vote • Vice President • Secretary • Taking minutes at meetings… • Treasurer • In charge of fundraiser and following Conestoga’s fundraising guidelines • Community Service Chair • Responsible for coming up with ideas for various service projects • Communications Chair • Responsible for spreading the word about various events/meetings • Responsible for following United Way’s branding rules and guidelines

  6. Membership • Must attend 60% of meetings during the year (unless valid excuse) • Participate in at least one event • Service project, fundraiser, etc. • Cannot be official member unless both are fulfilled

  7. Normal Agenda • Attendance and minutes • Update from United Way • Memo from each officer • Brief overview of what they have been working on • Discussion on upcoming project(s) • What needs to get done and when • Why we are doing certain things • Moral aspects are just as important as college applications… • Questions/new ideas/etc. • Adios…

  8. 1st Project of the Year • Kick it Up for Recess • United Way sponsored collection for new/gently used recess supplies • Kickballs, footballs, whiffle balls, sidewalk chalk, frisbees, hula hoops, jump ropes, Nerf balls, etc. • MLK day of service • Drop off site is Girard College in Philadelphia

  9. Collection and Advertising • Advertising two weeks in advance to MLK day (Monday, January 16th) • Flyer is already made (from UW) • Means week right when we get back from winter break • Wednesday, December 21st or Monday, January 2nd? • Collecting from January 9th-13th…week leading up to it • Discuss collection day later…

  10. Middle School Assitance • T/E and Valley Forge Middle Schools are participating as well • Mrs. Tyrell and Mr. DiMarino • Running collections through student council
