  10. HP P6000 Enterprise Virtual Array Family 5th Generation

  11. Technology overview Issues addressed Dynamic LUN/RAID Migration • Addresses customer needs • One Step Tiered Storage • Load Balancing and Performance Improvement • Non-disruptive system consolidation Move LUNs within P6000 EVA to more space efficient RAID levels and lower cost HDDs Move a heavily accessed LUN to a different disk group to improve performance With no application downtime, critical data can be moved between drives Technology

  12. Technology overview issues addressed iSCSI Using the iSCSI protocol, any enterprise that uses standard Ethernet technology can build IP SANs and reap their benefits Enables low latency SCSI "blocks" to be transported via Ethernet and TCP/IP iSCSI networks not only are much less expensive than Fibre channel, but they are also much simpler to deploy and manage  iSCSI are especially apparent when virtualization is employed • Simplifies managing the connection between servers and storage • iSCSI networks use the storage functionality that resides in every virtual machine to establish a direct, unique relationship with the target storage array •  iSCSI technology streamlines the management of data-intensive workloads and delivers full application functionality and robust data protection. Technology

  13. Technology overview issues addressed FCoE Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) maps Fibre Channel storage traffic over a 10Gb Ethernet network, converging storage and networking traffic onto a single platform while leveraging familiar management tools, security models, and processes A growing number of IT managers are consolidating servers and storage to reduce power, cooling, and management costs • Storage networking and server virtualization have enabled the first wave of consolidation and savings FCoE was designed to fuel the next wave of consolidation as it lowers complexity, increases efficiency, improves utilization, and ultimately reduces power, space, and cooling requirements in the data center. Technology
