  2. Purpose • To determine who the typical “speeder” is • Male or female? • Age group? • What time of day are people typically stopped? • Are insurance companies being fair?

  3. Statistics • List of people stopped for speeding in the month of January in Provo. 9 Females 26 Males

  5. Are insurance companies being fair? • Known to charge males 16-25 more for insurance • Used hypothesis to prove Do Not Reject

  6. What time of day are people stopped? • Hypothesis: People are stopped more during morning rush hour.

  7. Challenges • Sample size • Are there more men on the road in general? • Are women being pulled over but receiving more warnings?

  8. Are women receiving more warnings? • Surveyed 15 men and 15 women

  9. Males ticketed 90% of the time • Females ticketed 51% of the time

  10. Conclusions • Typical Speeder • Male in his 20’s • Are insurance companies being fair? • Yes, males 16-25 are in fact more likely to speed • What time of day are people more likely to speed? • During morning rush hour
