Hints for Trig Identities. Look for Pythagorean Identities (will have squared terms). Try rewriting things in terms of sinx / cosx . With fractions on the same side, find a common denominator. When you have fractions divided by fractions, change it to multiplying by the reciprocal.

Hints for Trig Identities • Look for Pythagorean Identities (will have squared terms). • Try rewriting things in terms of sinx/cosx. • With fractions on the same side, find a common denominator. • When you have fractions divided by fractions, change it to multiplying by the reciprocal. • If you have only one fraction on each side, try multiplying one side by its conjugate • (Ex: (1 – sinx) and (1 + sinx) are conjugates.) • Remember to FOIL when you have 2 binomials to multiply.
