  2. What are natural resources? • A natural resource is something found in nature that people can use to meet their needs. How many natural resources can you write in your science notebook? Draw a quick picture to go with each one.

  3. What are some natural resources? • Air (oxygen) • Water • Soil • Trees/Plants • Rocks/Minerals • Sun

  4. Let’s take a look at how we use Natural Resources

  5. Uses of Air • Humans use air to help them breathe. • Moving air can be used to make electricity. • Air can be used to help objects to fly.

  6. WINDMILLS

  7. Uses of Water • Humans drink water so they can live. • Plants use water to help them grow. • Water can be used to make electricity.

  8. DAM: turns water into electricity.

  9. Uses of Soil • People use soil to grow crops (food). • People use soil to make bricks which are used to build things.

  11. Uses of Trees & Plants • Trees are used to make paper, furniture and homes. • Plants can be used to make cloth for clothes, sheets, and many other products. • People and animals use plants for food.
