  1. Do Now: Philosophy • What do you think of when you hear the word “philosophy”? List at least 3 words or phrases. • What are some of your own personal philosophies(or beliefs)?

Philosophy • Greek philosophers shaped democratic ideas • Greek philosophers used logic and reason to investigate the nature of the universe, human society and morality • Based their philosophy on the following: • The universe (land, skies, and sea) is put together in an orderly way and is subject to absolute and unchanging laws • People can understand these laws through logic and reason

Greek Philosophers • Socrates- Questioned citizens about beliefs and ideas, a way to seek truth and self-knowledge • Plato- Believed society should be ruled by the wisest, not the richest and most powerful- wrote The Republic • Aristotle- Promoted reason as guiding force of learning. Wrote Politics, thought democracy could lead to mob rule

Greek Philosopher Twitter • Create a twitter page for one of the Greek Philosopherswe covered (Socrates, Plato, or Aristotle). • Your creation must include the following: • Each philosopher’s name • Visual for each philosopher • No stick figures • Each philosopher’s beliefs (in your own words) • At least 14 tweets total • At least 4 tweets (or responses) by each philosopher (Socrates, Plato, &Aristotle) • Must use color!!!
