BONSAI Project: Advancing Scientific Collaborations through Network Innovations

The BONSAI initiative focuses on establishing a Science DMZ and enhancing connectivity to the Oregon Gigapop and Internet2 with 10G fiber. We are implementing Software-Defined Networking (SDN) transport and promoting IPv6-capable applications. Phase one concludes by August 2013, while phase two wraps up by February 2014. The project encompasses collaboration among various departments at the University of Oregon, including Physics, Chemistry, Neuroscience, Biology, and Computer Science, with partnerships involving industry leaders like Arista, Brocade, Cisco, and Juniper.
