  1. Routines and Procedures In Mrs. Rubino’s class

  2. Bell Routine • How do I enter the classroom? ***ON TIME • QUIETLY enter classroom and take your seat. • PLACE your book bag under your chair and take our your journalism materials. • DEPOSIT homework in your class in-box. • COMPLETE Do-Now using a voice level of a 0.

  3. Let’s practice

  4. In the BEGINNING • How do I know what we are doing today? • Don’t ask me. • You need to take RESPONSIBILITY for your learning! • Read the itinerary and agenda posted on the easel.

  5. In the BEGINNING • What if I finish my do now? You shouldn’t! -You need to be writing silently or working quietly until I say stop. If I see you are stopped I will hold you after school to practice doing do now with me.

  6. DURING CLASS • What if I need to get out of my seat? • Think about IT. Is this absolutely necessary? • Then, DO NOT interrupt the flow of class • Raise your hand SILENTLY • Raise just your index finger if you need to go to the nurse. • Two fingers if you need to throw something away or get a tissue. • Crossed fingers for the bathroom • Three fingers to speak with me privately • A still raised hand to ask a relevant question.

  7. Let’s practice • Nurse • Tissue • Bathroom • Private Matter • Relevant Question • Mix it up.

  8. DURING CLASS • The volume level when someone is speaking to the whole class must be ZERO. • This means when I am speaking • When a student is speaking • When a guest is speaking • When there is an announcement on the intercom.

  11. THE END (of class) • We will summarize what we learned and make sure we have the homework written down. • We will do a ticket to leave. • We will make sure there is NO paper or trash around our desks. • We will stay in our seats until I dismiss you. If you get up when the bell rings I will hold the class in my room.

  12. Let’s practice • Get out your agendas • Summarize • Stay in seats

  13. THE END (of class) • After I dismiss you: • You will get up quietly and push in your chairs • You will file out in an orderly manner • Remember to say goodbye as you leave, most people consider it rude just to run out.

  14. Let’s practice

  15. Other important things • NEVER touch a teacher’s desk • NEVER touch the push pins or the white boards unless you have permission. • NO GUM • You MUST have on your ID
