  3. Toughest? Toughest? Question Which brand of tissue paper is the toughest?

  4. Hypothesis ‘Tempo’ tissue paper is the toughest.

  5. 1.What is going to be changed? Brand of tissue paper (Tempo, Circle K, Vinda, Mannings) 2.What is going to be measured? The number of batteries that a wet tissue paper can support • 3.What is/are kept constant? • Same temperature of water • Same size of tissue paper • Same weight of batteries

  6. Apparatus Materials - Tripod 1- Stop Watch 1- Basin(1000mL) 1 • Water 500mL- Tempo Tissue paper 1 • - Circle K tissue paper 1 • - Vinda tissue paper 1 • - Mannings tissue paper 1 • - Battery 18

  7. Procedure 1. Prepare 4 brands of tissue paper. Vinda Mannings Circle K Tempo

  8. Procedure 2. Prepare a basin of water.

  9. Procedure 3.Soak Tempo tissue paper into the water for 5 minutes with a stop watch.

  10. Procedure 4. Carefully spread the tissue paper on the tripod.

  11. Procedure 5. Put the batteries on the Tempo tissue paper one by one until it breaks. Record down the number of batteries that the tissue paper can support.

  12. Procedure 6. Do one more trial.

  13. Procedure Steps 2-6 for other three brands of tissue paper (Circle K, Vinda and Mannings). 7. REPEAT (2) (4) (6) (3) (5)

  14. Safety precautions • Be careful not to spill the water out of the basin. • Put a towel under the tripod to avoid the drop of batteries to the bench.

  17. Discussion of result Data Analysis From the table and the graph, we found that Tempo tissue paper can support eighteen batteries. So Tempo tissue paper is the toughest. Hence, our hypothesis is correct.

  18. Errors • The time that the tissue paper soak in water was not exactly five minutes. • The force to put the batteries onto the tissue paper may not be the same.

  19. Improvements • We should pay attention to the time on the stop watch and take the tissue paper up when it reaches five minutes. • We should use the same force to put the batteries carefully.

  20. Conclusion Tempo tissue paper is the toughest.

  21. Application If you want to buy a packet of tissue paper, you may choose Tempo! Toughest!
