Mission Statement The mission of the Part-Time Black Management Association is to develop Black leaders within the Kellogg community through professional and personal initiatives that create a supportive environment, enhance career development and attract top talent. We also utilize our active membership and extensive alumni base to support the development, enhance the network and foster the sense of community for our members.

Four Pillars • Development - Develop Black leaders within the Kellogg community through professional and personal initiatives. • Community - Foster a greater sense of community for our members. • Collaboration - Partner with other student groups to capitalize on our collective resources. • Outreach - Increase our visibility and be a resource to attract top talent to Kellogg.

  5. Event Categories Community Service Professional Development Speaker Series Social / Networking Events

  6. President • Responsible for overall club direction and management. The President is supported by the club’s committee members and most closely by the Vice President – Internal Relations. • Responsibilities: • Set overall annual association agenda. • Prioritize association goals. • Serve as primary contact for National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA). • Preside at all official club meetings. • Ensure club sustainability. • Guide the other Board officers with their duties and represent the club at official functions. • Be a supportive leader for all organization members. • Qualifications: • Is well organized and can delegate tasks. • Strong communication skills. • Strong leadership skills. • Ability to motivate others. • Time Commitment: • 2-5 hrs weekly to prepare for and attend KPTSA and BMA meetings/events. • The amount of time the office holder wishes to commit to the position and assigned events. • The position is filled in the Spring quarter and held for 12 months.

  7. Vice-President – Internal Relations • Responsible for handling the President's duties when he/she is not able or assisting the President in some of the outlined Presidential duties. The Internal Vice President is supported by the club’s committee members and most closely by the President and Secretary. • Responsibilities: • Assist in setting overall annual association agenda. • Assist in prioritizing association goals and events. • Serve as the backup leader/spokesperson for the PT-BMA. • Encourage, promote and engage membership in the PT-BMA and at events using Campus Groups and other methods. • Guide the executive board with their duties and represent the organization at official functions. • Manage executive board attendance at new student orientations and at Blitz Week/Manager's Pub. • Be a supportive leader for all organization members. • Qualifications: • An outgoing personality. • Strong communication skills. • Strong leadership skills. • Time Commitment: • 2-5 hrs weekly to prepare for and attend KPTSA and BMA meetings/events. • The amount of time the office holder wishes to commit to the position and assigned events. • The position is filled in the Spring quarter and held for 12 months.

  8. Vice-President – External Relations • Primary contact between executive board, alumni, full-time BMA, and outside agencies. Work with school’s administration to actively recruit new students of color to Kellogg. The External Vice President is supported by the club’s committee members and most closely by the President and VP – Professional Development. • Responsibilities: • Coordinate with Kellogg Corporate Relations and VP – Professional Development to identify, contact & secure local speakers and alumni. • Liaise with full-time BMA for events and information-sharing. • Maintain relationship with Kellogg Alumni Relations and Kellogg Black Alumni Club to keep alumni engaged in PT-BMA initiatives. • Attend PT-BMA meetings and give update on latest efforts • Qualifications: • An outgoing personality. • Strong organization, time-management and communication skills. • Strong leadership skills. • Time Commitment: • 2-5 hrs weekly on average. Will differ during weeks with alumni or graduation events and • The amount of time the office holder wishes to commit to the position. • The position is filled in the Spring quarter and held for 12 months.

  9. Secretary • Chief administration officer; provides the coordinating link between members and the executive board. The Secretary is supported by the club’s committee members, most closely by the President. • Responsibilities: • Prepare the agenda for club/group meetings in consultation with the Pres/VP. • Make arrangements including venue, date, times and hospitality for club meetings. • Send adequate notice of the meetings via Campus Groups. • Collect and collate reports from board members. • Take the minutes of meetings. • Act as chairman if the president and internal vice president are absent • Qualifications: • Can communicate effectively, particularly in written correspondence. • Strong organization skills. • Can be a resource for all board members and maintain confidentiality on relevant matters. • Time Commitment: • 2-5 hrs monthly to prepare for and attend KPTSA and BMA meetings/events. • The amount of time the office holder wishes to commit to the position. • The position is filled in the Spring quarter and held for 12 months.

  10. Treasurer • Handle all money matters of the club and maintain accurate financial records. The Treasurer is supported by the club’s committee members and executive board. • Responsibilities: • Prepare a budget, with the KPTSA finance committee and advisor, to guide the club. • Keep an accurate record in the treasurer’s book of all income & expenses. • Pay all bills promptly as approved by the club. • Only pay by check, and have paperwork for all bills paid. • Prepare an accurate treasurer’s report for each meeting and year-end report for KPTSA when appropriate. • Act as chairman if the president, internal vice president and secretary are all absent. • Qualifications: • Strong organization and communication skills. • Strong leadership skills. • Time Commitment: • 2-5 hrs weekly to prepare for and attend KPTSA and BMA meetings/events. • The amount of time the office holder wishes to commit to the position. • The position is filled in the Spring quarter and held for 12 months.

  11. VP – Social and Community Service • Engage PT-BMA members in social and community service events. The VP – Social and Community Service is supported by the club’s committee members and executive board. • Responsibilities: • Schedule and organize all Association social activities • Coordinate with FT-BMA counterparts to ensure open communication between groups • Schedule and organize at least two (2) community service activities • Reach out to Minority Student Clubs at local MBA programs to encourage co-mingling • Set up at least one event per year that incorporates multiple organizations • Attend PT-BMA meetings and give update on latest efforts • Qualifications: • An outgoing personality. • A knack for creating events that interests people. • Event management skills. • Time Commitment: • 1-2 hrs weekly on average. Will differ during weeks with events. • The amount of time the office holder wishes to commit to the position. • The position is filled in the Spring quarter and held for 12 months.

  12. VP – Professional Development • Expose members to valuable insight and contacts. With Vice President – External Relations, secure speakers for the PT-BMA Speaker Series and be inclusive of other KPTSA Clubs. The VP – Professional Development is supported by the club’s committee members and executive board. • Responsibilities: • Coordinate with Vice President – External Relations to identify potential Kellogg alumni speakers. • Tap into PT-BMA members networks to identify potential speakers • Work with FT-BMA to include PT-BMA in Entrepreneurship Workshop with the Taylor Group • Liaise with other clubs for identify synergies for event co-sponsorship • Attend PT-BMA meetings and give update on latest efforts • Qualifications: • An outgoing personality. • Enthusiasm and interest in securing high-profile speakers. • Time Commitment: • 2-3 hrs / week on average. Will vary during weeks with events and speaker recruiting periods. • The amount of time the office holder wishes to commit to the position. • The position is filled in the Spring quarter and held for 12 months.
