  2. Magazine logo Layout Sub-topic Main topic Explanatory text Explanatory text Barcode Main image Sub-topic

  3. Abstract colour schemes (black and white) are used to grab the attention of the reader, and draw them in closer to read more of the information. Layout The way the logo, main imagine and sub-topics are spread out is done to let the eye line of the reader to flow, like in an “S” shape, so the reader takes in all the information in one fluid eye motion. Your attention is guided from the top of the page, right down to the bottom of the page, taking in all of the information in the process. The bold fonts are again meant to draw in the attention of the reader.

  4. Images Both of the main images are in the same position, more or less. The text is all placed around the main image. The main image is the main eye-catcher for the reader, along with the main headline. The lack of colour in each image is made up by the bold and captivating photography. The typical and conventional backwards “S” shape layout, to let the readers eye line flow as they read. Unlike the typical backwards “S” shape, this layout is more list like, straight, and direct. In one downwards line.

  5. Text Main logo/magazine title. Sub-topic/headline next to the magazine logo/title to catch in the readers eye line. Main headline is short and catchy. Straight to the point. All of the text is spaced out to allow the reader to look at the whole cover and not just one part of it, like if the text was all in one space. Written in very casual font, relating to the reader.

  6. Summary... The cover attracts readers by using bold, colourful texts that stand out from the main imagine, and are spaced out to allow the reader to look at the whole cover. The use of lack of colour in the main image is made up by the affect the photography and imagery has one the reader. Free-hand style text is used to relate to the reader on a personal level. Overall, the cover appeals to it’s target audience of teenagers (general young people) and music fans. The short snappy sub-topics let the reader know what is inside the magazine, by getting straight to the point. The layout of the text and imagery lets the readers eye line flow in a natural backwards “S” shape to allow them to take all the information in with one glance.
