  2. Valley A valley a stretch of low land lying between hills or mountains and usually having a river or stream flowing through it.

  3. Glacier A glacier is a slowly-moving river of snow and ice.

  4. Waterfall A waterfall is water thundering over high cliff faces with enough force to pound the local geography into new shapes and forms. It’s the steep descent of the water of a river.

  5. Tributary A stream that flows into a larger stream or other body of water.

  6. Gulf A portion of an ocean or sea partly enclosed by land.

  7. Oasis • An isolated area of vegetation in a desert, typically surrounding a spring or similar water source. Oases also provide habitat for animals and even humans if the area is big enough.

  8. Canyon • A canyon is a deep valley with very steep sides - often carved from the Earth by a river.

  9. Fjord • A coastal valley which was sculpted by glacial action.

  10. Lagoon A lagoon is a small, shallow body of water between a barrier island or a coral reef and the mainland, also a small body of water surrounded by an island.

  11. Sea • A sea is a division of an ocean or a large body of salt water partially enclosed by land.

  12. Sound • A sound is a wide inlet of the sea or ocean that is parallel to the coastline; it often separates a coastline from a nearby island.

  13. Geyser A geyser is an eruptive spring from which hot water and (or) steam and in some cases mud are periodically thrown.

  14. Aquifer • In hydrologic terms, permeable layers of underground rock, or sand that hold or broadcast groundwater below the water table that will yield water to a well in sufficient quantities to produce water for beneficial use.

  15. Channel • A channel is a passage for water (or other fluids) to flow through.

  16. Suburban • Something that is suburban is located or residing in a suburb. • (A suburb is a residential district on the outskirts of a city or town.) Suburban

  17. An archipelago is a group of many islands in a large body of water. Archipelago

  18. Taiga • A taiga is he open northern part of the boreal forest. It consists of open woodland of coniferous trees growing in a rich floor of lichen, and is generally cold and swampy.

  19. Peak • The pointed summit of a mountain is called the peak.

  20. Plateau • A plateau, also called a high plateau or tableland, is an area of highland, usually consisting of relatively flat terrain.

  21. Strait • A strait a narrow channel of the sea joining two larger bodies of water

  22. Marsh • A marsh is a low-lying wet land with grassy vegetation.

  23. Chaparral • A dense, impenetrable thicket of shrubs or dwarf trees.
