  2. Shahriar “Shawn” Abdmishani joined Berea College as Maintenance Manager on 1/6/17. Prior to coming to Berea College, he worked for AventicsCorportion. Mr. Abdmishanireceived a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tennessee. He is an avid reader. Daniel Adams joined Berea College on 9/1/16 as a Senior Web Developer in the Integrated Marketing Communications Dept.

  3. Curtis Agee joined Berea College on 10/17/16 as a HVAC Technician in the Facilities Management Dept. Steve Albritton joined Berea College on 10/3/16 as A Technical Support Assistant in Information Systems and Services. He received his Bachelor of Music from San Angelo State University in 1983 and his Bachelor of Computer Information Technology from Western Kentucky University in December 2016. Mr. Albritton enjoys singing, hunting, kayaking, canoeing and fishing.

  4. Shahwar Ali joined Berea College on 9/8/16 as the Interim Coordinator for Finance, Communication and Programming in the Center for Transformative Learning. Ms. Shahwar has previous experience as an office assistant, career development and internships at Berea College. She received her B.A. in Communications from Berea College in 2016. Shaiquin Arline joined Berea College on 11/28/16 as an Officer with Public Safety. Mr. Arline previously worked at Hitachi Automotive Systems.

  5. Eric Arthur, joined Berea College on 12/15/16 as a Systems Administrator in the Labor Dept. He received his BA in Education Studies with Middle Grades Science certification from Berea College. Mr. Arthur enjoys the outdoors, family and music.

  6. Matthew Baker joined Berea College on 1/8/17 as a Student Life Team Member in the Student Life Dept. Before joining us, Mr. Baker worked at Whitworth University in Spokane, WA. He received his BS from the University of St. Francis, Ft. Wayne, IN and his MA in Higher Education from Geneva College. Cheyenne Brumbaugh joined Berea College on 11/15/16 as an Assistant Registrar in the Registrar’s Office. Ms. Brumbaugh received her BA in History from Berea College.

  7. Linda Cooper joined Berea College on 10/10/16 as Associate Director, ETS, in the PFE Dept. She received her BA in 1999 from Western KY University and her MA in 2011 from Campbellsville University. Alaina Fox joined Berea College on 8/19/16 as the Asst. Volleyball Coach in the Athletic Dept. She earned her 2016 BA in Chemistry from Berea College. Alaina has played Volleyball for Berea College from August 2012 to May 2016.

  8. Tia Davis joined Berea College on 8/1/16 as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre in the Theatre Dept. She was previously employed by Ailey Camp Atlanta, Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, KY Shakespeare, University of Louisville, AmeriCorps Vista/GEAR UP at Berea College. In 2011 Tia received a BA in Theatre Performance from Berea College, 2015 a MFA in performance from University of Louisville and in 2015 an African American Theatre Graduate Certificate from University of Louisville. She loves sustainable design tiny house living, modern & West African dance, poetry, yoga, creative writing, photography and short films. Bobbie Dixon joined Berea College on 11/14/16 as a Service Coordinator with the PFE Program. He was previously a Family Support Specialist II, Software Implementation Specialist and a retired Middle School Teacher. In 1986 he earned his M.A. from Eastern Kentucky University in Elementary Education and in 1978 a B.A. from Morehead State University in Radio/TV.

  9. Jenifer Dodd joined Berea College on 8/1/16 as a Mellon Fellow in the History Department. She previously worked at Vanderbilt University. In 2009 Ms. Dodd earned her B.A. in History from University of Texas @ Austin and her PH.D in History from Vanderbilt University. Sarah Downs joined Berea College on 9/1/16 as a Lecturer in the HHP Department. She earned her M.A. in Choreography from University of North Carolina Greensboro.

  10. James Dreiling joined Berea College on 8/1/16 as a visiting Assistant Professor of Music. He previously worked at Stephen F. Austin State university in Texas and Southwestern College in Kansas. In 1998 James earned his BME from Kansas State University, 2002 MME from Wichita State University and 2015 DMA from University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Debbie Edwards joined Berea College on 11/29/16 as a Substitute Teacher in the CDL Dept. She is in the progress of earning her Associates degree in Early Childhood Education at Bluegrass Community Technical School and expects to graduate in May, 2017.

  11. Lindsey Gentry joined Berea College 11/14/16 a a Part-time College and Career Guide in the PFE Program. She previously was an intern at Thompson Law Office and is currently a Substitute Teacher when not working at Gear Up PFE. In 2013 Ms. Gentry earned her BA in Sociology from the University of Louisville. She enjoys reading, researching physics and astronomy and finding new things to learn. Russell Gilreath joined Berea College on 11/14/16 as a CCG in the PFE Program. He previously worked at McCreery Central High School and earned his BA at UK, MA from EKU and Rank One from EKU. Joseph Glidewell joined Berea College on 11/14/16 and a CCG in the PFE Program. He earned his BA in History/Social Studies.

  12. Benjamin Groth joined Berea College on 10/11/16 as a Chaplain intern in the Campus Christian Center. He earned his TH.M from Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, M.div at Yale Divinity School and BA/BM at Oberlin College and Conservatory. David Guggenheim joined Berea College as a Asst. Professor of Management in the Business Dept. He was previously employed by Southern Illinois University as a Graduate Assistant and at University of Illinois as a Graduate Assistant. David earned his M.B.A. in 2010 from University of Illinois and in 2016 earned his Ph.D in Business Administration from Southern Illinois University.

  13. Dianna Hacker-Taylor joined Berea College on 1/1/17 as a Adj. Instructor in the Nursing Sept. She previously worked at Mercy Well Child, Berea College and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Dianna earned her Master’s degree in pediatric Nurse Practitioner and University of Cincinnati and Post Masters Certificate in Family Nurse Practitioner from WKU, Dual certification in Pediatric and Family Nurse Practitioner. Tracy McDole joined Berea College on 10/05/16 as the Benefits Coordinator in the Human Resources Dept. She previously worked at the University of Toledo as a Benefit Specialist. She earned her B.A. ib Human Resources at University of Toledo. Tracy enjoys vacationing with her family.

  14. Tasha Hawthorne joined Berea College on 8/1/16 as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the English Dept. She was previously employed by Phillips Academy and Northwestern University. Ms. Hawthorne earned her BA in English and African American Studies from Bates College, her MA in African American Studies from Cornell University and a MA in English, PhD in English. Dee Hill-Zuganelli joined Berea College on 8/1/16 as a Assistant Professor in Child and Family Studies. In 2002 Dee earned his B.A. in Philosophy from Transylvania University, in 2005 he earned M.S. in Family Studies, Marriage and Family Therapy from UK, in 2010 he earned his M.A. in Sociology from University of Arizone and in 2016 he earned his PhD in Sociology from university of Arizona. He enjoys cooking, hiking and volleyball.

  15. Mark Huguely joined Berea College on 1/6/17 as a Public Safety Officer II in the Public Safety Dept. He was previously employed at HSS in Livermore, CA as a Security Project Coordinator. Mark’s interests include drone, video games and traveling, Abigail Roark joined Berea College on 11/7/16 as a Site Coordinator for PFE. She previously taught Mathematics at Perry County Central High School.

  16. Laurie Jakubowski joined Berea College as a Assistant Coach for Women’s Soccer on 08/19/16. She earned her Associates degree of Radiological Sciences in 2010. Her interests are in Soccer. Phillip Logsdon joined Berea College on 11/14/16 as a Technical Support Engineer in the IS&S Dept. He was previously employed by EKU IT Dept. Phillip earned his Associates Degree in Automotive Technology in 2000. In 2002 he began working in the Technology field and in 2013 earned his BA from Eastern KY University.

  17. Jessica Jarrett joined Berea College on 12/12/16 as a Student Financial Aid Verification Specialist in the Student Financial Aid Dept. Crystal Jones joined Berea College on 11/14/16 as a College and Career Guide in the PFE Program. She has a B.A. in Communications. Lisa Jones joined Berea College on 1/1/17 as a Math Instructor in the Mathematics Dept. She retired after teaching high school math for 27 years. She has ben a Math Instructor at Berea College for 4 years and 4 years with the Alumni Office. She received her B.A. in Mathematics in 1983 from Berea College and her M.A Ed in Mathematics from EKY.

  18. Emily Lovell joined Berea College on 1/1/17 as a Visiting Instructor in the Computer Science Dept. She has taught undergraduate computer science at UC Santa Cruz and has worked as a museum eduator intern at the Exploratorium Science Museum in San Francisco. Ms. Lovell is currently working on completing her PhD. In 2008 she earned a BA in Computer Science with a minor in electronic music from UC Santa Cruz and in 2011 her MS in Media Arts & Sciences from Massachusetts Institute of technology. Emily enjoys hiking, camping, climbing, music, baking and exploring with her dog. Dianna Madden joined Berea College on 1/1/17 as Clinical Faculty in the Nursing Program. She was previously employed as the Director of Quality at St. Joseph East Hospital. In 2005 Ms. Madden earned a AND, 2009 BSN and 2014 MSN. She loves the lake and boating.

  19. Kimberly Manning joined Berea College on 10/3/16 A Program Associate with PFE. She earned her BBA from Eastern KY University. Cindy McGaha joined Berea College on 8/1/16 as a Professor of Family and Child Studies. She has taught Family and Child Studies at Appalachian State University and Child Development & Family Studies at East Carolina University. In 1991, Cindy earned her B.A. in Psychology at Berea College, in 1994 a M.S. in Human Development & Family Studies from UNC-G and in 1996 she earned her PhD in Human Development & Family Studies from UNC-G.

  20. Todd Morris joined Berea College on 9/1/16 as Asst. Baseball Coach in the Athletics Dept. He earned a B.S. in Physical Education from EKU in 1998. Tianekhia “Tia” Bowman joined Berea College. Tia is working as an Administrative Assistant in the Facilities Dept. She earned her B.A in Administration at Cappela University and is currently working on MBA at Western Governors. She enjoys her family time and writing poetry.

  21. Christopher Mullins joined Berea College on 8/1/16 as Visiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry. He previously was employed as Assistant Professor at Campbellsville University. Mr. Mullins earned his B.S. in Chemistry from Indiana State University in 2000 and his PhD in Chemistry from University of Louisville in 2006. He is an active member of UY Academy of Science, married with 3 young children. Darryll Patrick joined Berea College on 9/1/16 as Assistant Cross Country Track and Field Coach in the Athletics Dept. He received his BA in Physical Education in 2013 from Berea College. He enjoys running.

  22. Emily Parrish joined Berea College on 10/3/16 as a Senior Graphic Designer in the Printing Services Dept. She has worked for Passport, Inc. and Time Warner Entertainment (Southern Progress Corp.) Emily earned her BFA in Fine Arts specializing in Graphic Design from Auburn University in 1992. She enjoys scuba diving, painting, reading and traveling. Christopher Petroski joined Berea College on 9/1/16 as Head Softball Coach in the Athletics Dept. In 2005 he earned his B.S. in Psychology at the University of Bridgeport and in 2008 his Post Bacc Teaching Degree K-12 Health & Physical Education.

  23. Kayla Preston joined Berea College on 10/31/16 as a Program Assistant in the Grow Appalachia PFE Program. She earned her B.A. in International Studies and a minor in Spanish. Kayla enjoys permaculture gardening, banjo and the outdoors. Debra Ratliff joined Berea College on 10/17/16 as a Counselor in Counseling Services. She previously worked at the Dept of Corrections, Division of Mental Health Counseling. In 1999 Debra earned her BA in Child and Family Studies and then in 2007 her Med in Mental Health Counseling at Lindsey Wilson College. She enjoys hiking, movies and reading.

  24. Dustin Smith joined Berea College on 11/14/16 as a College and Career Guide for the PFE Program. He has a BA in Social Work. He is an Eagles fan, Tar Heels Fan and is getting married in July 2017. Ashyya Robinson joined Berea College on 12/19/16 as a Student Engagement Specialist for the Emerging Scholars Program. She previously worked at Barren River Area Development District. In 2014 Ashyya earned her Bachelors in Social Work at Western Kentucky University and in 2016 earned her Master in Social work from Western Kentucky University. She loves basketball, is an active member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. and likes to bake.

  25. Carrie Root joined Berea College on 11/14/16 as a College and Career Guide for the PFE Program. In 2014 she received her BS in Criminal Justice and Human Services from the University of the Cumberlands. Currently pursing a Masters in Justice Administration at University of the Cumberlands. Calder Ruth joined Berea College on 10/31/16 as a Dispatch/Telecommunicator in the Public Safety Dept. He enjoys reading, writing, kayaking and hiking.

  26. Brittney Sandlin joined Berea College on 1/1/17 as a RN-MSN in the Nursing Program. She previously worked at Kentucky Children hospital and Rockcastle Regional Hospital. In 2012, Brittney earned her BSN in Nursing at Berea College and then in 2016 her MSM at WKU. Emmanuel Stokes joined Berea College on 8/1/16 as a Visiting Professor of Music in the Music Dept. In 2008 he earned his B.A. at Berea College, in 2013 his M.M. at the University of Tennesee, Knoxville. He is a PhD Candidate, University of Illinois at Urbona-Champaign

  27. Dean Sumpter joined Berea College on 11/14/16 as a College and Career Guide for the PFE Program. He has a BA in Political Science from University of Kentucky. Elizabeth Thomas joined Berea College on 8/1/16 as a Visiting Faculty Asst. Professor of Chemistry. She previousely worked as a Analytical Science Data Reviewer at Piramal. In 1997 she earned her BS in Science at UK, 2000 MS in Organic Checmistry at University of Louisville, 2016 PhD Chemistry at UK. Elizabeth enjoys running, hiking, snow skiing and spending time with her family.

  28. Rebecca Thomas joined Berea College on 1/1/17 as a Lecturer in Theatre. She previously worked at Lexington’s Children’s Theatre. Rebecca has a BS in Interior Design from Western KY University and a MA in theatre from the University of KY. Jazmine Thompson joined Berea College on 8/1/16 as Coordinator of First Year Program in the Office of Academic Services. She previously worked at Eastern Illinois University. In 2011 she earned her AA from South Suburban College, 2013 BA in Sociology from Eastern Illinois University and 2016 her Master of Science in College Student FFAIRS FRO Eastern Ilinois University. She enjoys painting and DIY projects.

  29. Milton Traw joined Berea College on 8/1/16 as a Visiting Associate Professor in Biology. He has previously worked at University of Pittsburgh and University of Chicago. Milton earned his A.B. in Biology from Harvard University and a PhD in Ecology from Cornell University. He enjoys whitewater rafting, kayaking, fossil hunting and amphibian conservation.

  30. Stephanie Turner joined Berea College on 10/17/16 as a Facilities Management Analyst in the Facilities Dept. Christina Vaughn joined Berea College on 11/14/16 as a Senior Administrative Assistant in the Human Resources Department. She previously worked as a Crime Scene Technician Investigator and served her Country working for the Army Corps of Engineers in Iraq. Christina has lived in numerous countries all over the world and is now calling Kentucky her forever home with her husband. She enjoys quilting, Mosaic Tile medium, volunteering, family time and her sweet, precious Chihuahua named Gunner.

  31. Jianfen Wang joined Berea College on 8/1/16 as a Assistant Professor of Chinese in the Foreign Language Dept. She has previously worked at Washington and Lee University and College of Wooster. In 1999 she earned her BA in English Language and Literature in Bejing Language and Culture University, in 2011 MA in TESOL from Ohio State University and in 2016 her PhD in Chinese Pedagogy from Ohio State University. Brenden Weaver joined Berea College on 8/1/16 as a Mellon Institute Visiting Assistant Professor in the Division V Program. He was a Post-doctoral Research Fellow, Institute for Collaborative Research in the Humanities, Queen’s University Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK. In 2005 Brenden earned his BA in Anthropology with a minor in Political Science and Spanish from Western Michigan University, in 2008 he earned his MA in Anthropology from Western Michigan University, in 2010 Licentiate in Archaeology, Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru, in 2015 PhD in Anthropology from Vanderbilt University. He enjoys researching historical anthropology. Archaeology, ethno history of labor and slavery in Andean South America. I also enjoy folk music, hiking, traveling and hanging out with my wife and dog.

  32. Linda Wray joined Berea College on 8/1/16 as Associate professor of Nursing in the Nursing Program. She was previously employed by the Department of Baccalaureate & Grad Nursing at Eastern Kentucky University. She received her BS in Nursing from Lenoir Rhyne College, MSN in Nursing from University of N.C. at Greensboro and her PhD in Nursing at University of Kentucky. Mimi Zheng joined Berea College on 8/1/16 as a Program Associate for the First Year Initiatives Program. She earned her BS in Business Administration from Berea College in 2016.
