Unit Six – Passive Voice Grade 11- English • Objectives • Identifies the structure of the passive voice. • Accepts importance of the verb form. • Speaks passive voice sentences correctly. • Uses passive voice sentences accurately in writing. • Ability to use passive voice sentences appropriately and confidently in day today conversation.
Unit Six – Passive Voice Grade 11- English Active Vs Passive sentences • In an active sentence, the subject performs the action. • In a passive sentence, the subject is at the receiving end of the action. • The passive can be used when the receiver of the action is more important than the doer.
Unit Six – Passive Voice Grade 11- English What is the Passive voice? A sentence generally begins with the performer Of the action (subject) then the verb, then the Object or person that the action is performed on, this is called an ‘active’ sentence. Subject + Verb + Object Sister washes clothes
