  3. Demographic Transition Model Costa Rica’s birth rate, death rate, and natural increase fit the numbers best in stage 3 of the Demographic Transition Model which is the best stage for industry. Costa Rica’s birth rate is 16.65 which is closest to the end of stage three in the model above. The death rate is 4.29 which is all of stage 3 and the natural increase is 1.347 % which compares to towards the end of the model shown above. Agriculture revolution brought higher number of resources to Costa Rica. Industrial Revolution brought urbanization because all the jobs were in the city and so people moved to the city.

  5. Chart Analysis Costa Rica has growth rate of 1.3% which keeps the population under control and not over powering. The life expectancy of Costa Rica is 78.9 which is not much higher than Belize or Nicaragua, just a couple years higher, unlike the comparison of Literacy Rates between the countries. Costa Rica has rate of more than 10 better than it’s neighbors at 95.9. Costa Rica’s gross domestic product is also impressive next to Belize and Nicaragua at 6,850. This shows that products are well made in this area already plus conditions are good because there is a high life expectancy. Workers are very much likely to be educated and ready to work.

  6. Economic Development Costa Rica has fertile land good for farming, plus Costa Rica is rich in forestry products and fisheries products. Some farming products that are grown in Costa Rica are bananas, pineapples, coffee, sugar, rice, corn, beans. Major Industries: apparel, electronic components, medical equipment, tires, food processing, construction materials, fertilizer, and plastic products. Major Services: Hotels, Restaurants, Tourist Services, Banks, and Insurance.

  7. Site Factors: Land and Labor Recently there has been a rise in land prices in Costa Rica. This has been the same situation of construction. This would be very expensive in buying land and building a factory.

  8. Site Factors: Resources & Situation Factors Costa Rica contains some of the resources to produce Canon products such as printers, cameras, camcorders and others. Some resources will have to be transported into Costa Rica so that is a down fall of the location. After all transportation and inputs cost this would probably be a bulk gaining industry. List of Inputs: Glass lens, plastic, variety of metal, computer chips, cotton, polyester, leather, Major markets could be placed in San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica which is about 75-90 miles away from the location of factory.

  13. Social Stability Costa Rica is a constitutional democracy ruled by a president, along with two vice presidents. They are in office for four years and are voted in by the people. Costa Rica does not have a strong belief and push on emphasizing anti- corruption. They aren’t a country well know for their corruption either though. Costa Rica’s government or state has a religion which is Roman Catholicism but still has freedom of religion. Other human rights in Costa Rica are freedom of speech, and freedom of the press.

Land and Construction Costs Benefits: Located on the cost and by water In Stage 3 which is best for industry Many transportation opportunities and options High phone line percentage for communication High number of both internet hosts and users which is good for communication and advertisement. Taxes are pretty low.
