  1. Background: Next weekend the Statue of Our Lady of Fatima will travel from Portugal to Rome. Pope Francis will pray in front of the statue and consecrate the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Devotion to Mary under this title reminds us that her heart poured out love onto her Son whilst he was on earth, now she is in heaven she is still pouring out love onto us her children. As our mother we ask her to pray for peace in our world. 27thWeek of the year 2013

  2. Monday 7th October 2013Our Lady of the Rosary Reader: “My soul glorifies the Lord, my Spirit rejoices in God my saviour. He looks on his servant in her nothingness, henceforth all generations will call me blessed. The Almighty works marvels for me. Holy is his name.” (Gospel of Luke 1:46 The Magnificat) Reader 2: Lord, through the prayers of Mary, our Mother and Queen of peace, fill our hearts with your love and understanding; so that beginning with our own lives peace may come upon our world. Through Christ our Lord. Amen

  8. Thursday 10thOctober 2013St Paulinus & the Anglo Saxon Saints of our Diocese Reader: A missionary sent to England by Pope Gregory I in the 7th Century. He converted the Princess of Kent Ethelburga to Christianity marrying her to King Edwin of the Angles. Edwin allowed Paulinus and his followers to convert his Kingdom. Paulinus travelled through the Kingdoms that now make up England baptising and setting up missions including in Lindsey (Lincolnshire). Reader: ‘We glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.’ (St Paul’s letter to the Romans 5:3)
