  2. Foundation tier Task: describe each of your population pyramids by answering the following questions- full sentences please! Don’t forget to quote figures... What is the largest age group? What is the smallest age group? Is the birth rate high or low (compared to the rest of the pyramid)? Is the life expectancy high or low? (clue: look at the shape of the tip – does it get narrow quickly) Are there more males than females? Do males or females have the highest life expectancy? Do you think your country is an MEDC or an LEDC? What evidence do you have for this? What are Population Pyramids and What Do they Tell Us About A Country?

What percentage of Bangladesh’s population are 9 or under? (Remember to add the number of males and females together). Which are their more of in Japan- males or females? What percentage of Japan’s population are over 80? Which country has the most people aged between 20 and 39? How do you think this might affect the country in the future? Which country appears to have the highest birth-rate? Which country do you think is the poorest? Make sure you give reasons for your answer. Do males or females have the highest life expectancy? Japan is an MEDC. What evidence in the population pyramid supports this statement?
