DRILL: (Page layout ) • Title page- Thumbnail Sketches • Definition/ why?- • Examples from life- • What animal(s) or natural plants will you use? • 2-4 Boxes for drawing. Animals/ Plants:

  2. A thumbnail sketch is… • A series of quick sketches that help you to brainstorm ideas. • What are some things that people create that they might start with a series of thumbnail sketches?

  3. Movies

  5. Comics

  6. Cars- anything manufactured…labels, too.

  8. Why would you do more than one?

  9. On each thumbnail sketch: Practice drawing animals and natural objects from a picture. Use shapes to help. Create a minimum of 2 sketches: • Minimum of 2 animals and/ or flowers. • 5 spaces for shading/ value • Minimum of 3 spaces for collage. • Minimum of 10 spaces. • Other designs or images of your choice.

  11. Today’s Goal: • Create 2or more different thumbnail sketches to give you ideas for your final mandala. • Look at your previous pages and packets of images to help you with ideas. • Sketches can be quick or detailed. • Final lesson- Collage Techniques • Start final artwork Thursday.

  12. On each thumbnail sketch: Practice drawing animals and natural objects from a picture. Use shapes to help.   13. Remember these criteria, too: • Difficulty and detail • Craftsmanship/ neatness • Composition- layout is balanced • Focus on assignment • Creativity- problem solving- uniqueness • You can add whatever you want as long as you meet the criteria. PLAY. BE CREATIVE!
