Toxic Substances Control Act of 1976 (TSCA) -Ryan Gerard • Passed by congress to regulate the introduction of new or already existing chemicals. • Companies who want to use new chemicals must check with the EPA who inspects for safety of new chemical. • EPA under the TSCA has the power to regulate or ban the product and chemical if it poses a threat to human health or the environment.

Toxic Substances Control Act • Food, drugs, cosmetics, pesticides and others are excluded from this act. • The TSCA has been successful in addressing the production, importation, use and disposal of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), asbestos, radon, and lead based paints. • Amendments have been added to ensure the proper inspection of potentially hazardous chemicals as well as limitations on disposal
