  2. Yew Guys are Digital Natives- raised on a variety of technologies resulting in an unique wiring of your brains. (Dr. Gary Small, psychology professor) Your brains are rewarded with chemicals (dopamine…) when something new & fun is tried (too much-addiction) This results in a tendency to multi-task (new & fun) Researchers have yet to determine all of the results, both positive and negative, of this huge change Pruning- during teen year brain connections lost or strengthened according to use (multi-tasking & focusing on one thing?) The rate of technological changes is unprecedented

Tom & Linda are proud parents of two pre-school kids. Bonnie, is 1 years old and Josh is 4. They have a lot of fun telling the world about their kids’ pre-school and other activities. 3. After 4 years working hard at the university, Beth was excited about her job interview. She decided to get drunk before hand. 4. Megan and Claire have been best friends since 4th grade. Why not share passwords?
  10. 5. Ruth never really felt good about herself and the boy she met online seemed genuinely interested in her. What would be the big deal if she sent her special friend some special pictures? 6. Doug couldn’t believe his luck. The video he bought online were so cheap. He’ll definitely tell his friends about it. 7. Mike never liked Keith, ever since that incident in 3rd grade. But when Keith posted that embarrassing picture, it was time to get even. That disgusting video Keith made is now going viral. 8. Carol and Jim knew they had a lot to drink but they were experienced. Besides they only had to go 5 miles to get home.

  15. The End of Civilization As We Know It? Does this technology make us better people? 1.Texting & speling- abbreviations may hurt one’s ability to spell correctly, even with spell check; limits a person’s vocabulary. e.g.- threw (through) 2. You may remember less but have the tools to look up answers. Enough info to ask the right answers? 3. Social Neanderthals- too much technology may hinder a person’s human relations skills. Need to learn body language, facial expressions, voice inflections. Need to pay attention to the people you are with. 4. Fallacy of Multi-tasking: 1 thing=100%, 2 things=50%... A person can learn to be a quick & somewhat efficient task switcher but still… (texting & driving same as drinking & driving) 5. Lack of sleep- decreased concentrating, resistance to disease 6. Obesity 7. OCD- if you keep checking for texts… 8. Addiction- interferes with daily life
